NOIR FESTIVAL 2011

Noir festival was established in May 2011 with the goal of promoting noir art and culture. First festival was held in Zagreb and lasted for four days, while a shorter two day festival was held on the Adriatic coast in August at the city of Zadar.

Zagreb noir was held at four different locations at which visitors of the festival were able to see a noir fashion exhibition, exhibition of photographs from the short noir film Mean to me, panel discussion on the topic of noir in different fields of culture and projections of noir classics at the open cinema under the stars, and at the cinema Tuškanac. The honorary guest of the festival was Peter McGough, one half of the world-renowned art collective McDermott & McGough who opened the festival with his short film Mean to me, that stars top model Agyness Deyn who greeted the visitors via video link. During the summer months the festival moved to the Adriatic coast, to the city of Zadar that was praised and celebrated by the father of the noir genre Alfred Hitchcock. The festival was held at two different locations in the city, one being the historic Knights Palace and the second a movie projection on a pontoon that was docked in front of a popular club in Zadar. The festival was a host to the internationally known actor and Oscar nominee Brian Geraghty, his fiancé Krysten Ritter and the most known Croatian top model Helena Šopar, they opened the festival with the projection of their short neo-noir film Mind Games. The festival was visited by people from more than 30 countries, which showed again how popular noir is globally.
